The Adaptive Sivananda Yoga Course is an 8-day certification program designed for yoga teachers to learn specific variations for the Sivananda Hatha Yoga class. For a variety of reasons, in our modern era, students are unable to practice the basic series taught and experienced in TTC. More than ever we are being asked to modify our sacred sequence, whether due to injury, seated lifestyles, or yoga expanding to specialized populations.

Course Description

This course provides yoga teachers with anatomical theory related to choosing specialized asana variations for certain student conditions. Each day you will participate in an anatomy and asana-variation class that will then be applied in the afternoon practicum class. You will experience first-hand the applied variations and have a group discussion following. Upon graduation, you will feel confident in creating a safe and welcoming class for student’s whose needs may include inflexibility, spinal injuries, bigger bodies, immobility, pregnancy, and more.

Lila Lolling is a light-hearted and dedicated teacher with 17 years of experience adapting Sivananda Hatha Yoga for a variety of body types. She will present simple and effective asana variations that you will be able to implement immediately with your students. “If TTC is hardware, the Adapted Sivananda Yoga Course is the software,” states a participant from the 2015 course held at the Neyyar Dam India Ashram.

Asana variations for people with a sedentary lifestyle or stiffer body

Yoga Alliance Certified

This is a certified course accredited by the International Sivananda Organization and Yoga Alliance and is designed to provide the teacher with proper information about how to guide a class with specific variations which aid to build a student up to the Sivananda Yoga Open Class. Since TTC is the standard series with more advanced variations, this course is designed to offer everything below the open class.

Course Tuition

The $295 course tuition is for the workshop and does not include accommodation. Your accommodation rate includes Satsang, vegetarian meals and Hatha yoga classes which are offered daily.

•   Daily attendance at both satsangs and hatha yoga classes is required in order to maintain the proper rhythm and atmosphere of the ashram.

•   Daily activity schedule, or possible schedule changes, will be announced during morning Satsang.
