This programs explores simple lifestyle tips for an easeful body, a peaceful mind, and a useful life.

The Friday night satsang will focus on How To Live Like A Yogi. You don’t need to do anything extraordinary to be a good yogi. It is not necessary to have an extreme practice—it can actually be counterproductive. What is needed is to gradually develop a lifestyle that nourishes your body, mind, and soul. In this Satsang Swami Asokananda will share what a day in the life of a yogi looks like, including how does a yogi approach sleep; what are some simple guidelines to keep our digestive fire bright; and how to find a balance between work and self-care.

The Saturday afternoon workshop will focus on Demystifying Meditation: Making Friends with Your Mind. Most of us have enough stress in our life. Let’s not make meditation one more hard thing to do. This workshop will explore if there is a more effective way to practice than trying to stop the thoughts; how the practice can help you to understand and deepen the connection to yourself; and how to keep your practice enjoyable and inspiring year in and year out. Swami Asokananda will introduce a simple three-step approach to meditation that has kept his meditation interesting, meaningful, and rejuvenating for over 45 years.

Swami Asokananda

Swami Asokananda, a monk since 1973, is one of Integral Yoga’s foremost teachers, known for his warmth, intelligence, and good humor. His teaching comes out of his own practice and experience, since he has absorbed the wisdom of his guru, Sri Swami Satchidananda, since the age of 19. While he enjoys sharing the practical wisdom of the Yogic philosophy (especially that of the great Indian scripture the Bhagavad Gita), he also loves his practice of Hatha Yoga and is one of the primary instructors for Intermediate and Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training. In the past, he has served as the president of Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville® and Integral Yoga® International; he is currently the president of the New York Integral Yoga Institute.

Satsang & Yoga Classes

Satsang consists of a 30-minute silent meditation, followed by 30 minutes of spiritual chanting (kirtan), and finishes with 30 minutes of spiritual lecture.
Daily attendance at both Satsangs and Hatha Yoga Classes is encouraged for your health and well-being and to maintain the proper rhythm and atmosphere of the ashram community.
