Teen Yoga Retreat (Ages 12 – 16)With Gauri Devi, Satyadev, Satyabhama and special guest teachers: Snatam Kaur & Sopurkh Singh

This Youth Camp is a beautiful opportunity for teens to learn and experience new things, while enjoying a yogic lifestyle in a beautiful setting. Experienced Sivananda Yoga instructors Gauri Devi, Satyadev, Satyabhama will guide young teens through the steps of Yoga with an engaging and activity-filled program.

In addition, we will have the incredible Snatam Kaur and Sopurkh Singh, who will give a daily teaching to the participants in the area of ​​spiritual sound vibration. At the end of the program, the teens will make a loving final presentation, performing a piece of music that they prepared during the classes.

The program is open to young people ages 12-16 for 5 days of growth, connection, communion with nature and creativity.

Our retreaters learn to polish their inner light with the 5 Points of Yoga in theory & practice:

  • Proper Exercise: Outdoor asana classes, bending the spine in 6 directions. Advanced postures will also be included!
  • Proper Breathing: Taking in the fresh mountain air and experiencing the calm mind and body that deep breathing creates, running around in games, hiking, basic pranayama techniques.
  • Proper Relaxation: The art and practice of guided imagery and yoga sleep (yoga Nidra). Learning simple self-massage techniques with balls and rollers to go into deep relaxation.
  • Proper Diet: Following a vegetarian diet for 5 days! Creating a rainbow plate everyday! Rejoicing in the earth’s bounty and learning how we are comprised of the elements themselves.
  • Meditation and Positive Thinking: Chanting and singing, honoring world cultures, learning some new meditative techniques, and incorporating some mindfulness hacks will make the practice of
    meditation something enjoyable.

We will get immersed in serving the community, connecting with friends, living with and respecting one another’s similarities and differences, unplugging from the modern conveniences, creating beautiful artwork and tuning into nature.  Culminating our time together with a Talent Show!

Teens will also contribute an hour of service to the ashram, becoming part of the community that keeps the ashram humming.  Participants will have a really good time and will be happy to return home with practical knowledge and a few new skills for a better living back home.

**As an incredible additional bonus:

Parents will have the experience of learning and get immersed in the beautiful teachings of Snatam Kaur and her husband Sopurkh Singh. They will be teaching a number of workshops and offering kirtan in Satsang during the time of the Teen Camp. Parents/adults register separately for our Clarity and Healing through Sacred Chant Retreat (linked to the next program)

– Please note: Your arrival and departure dates may not permit participation in all the days of this program; however, while at the ashram during these dates, teens must be registered for this program,
and a registered adult must accompany all teens at the Ashram.

While staying at the Ashram, we request the following from teen guests:

•   Stay on premises, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian Keep noise levels appropriate, especially during quiet hours from 10:00 pm – 8:00 am
•   Limit use of technology
•   Do not swim on the pond

Daily Schedule:

•   7:00 am – Wake up, dress for class
•   7:45 am – Snack
•   8:00 am – Youth Satsang: Meditation or silent walk and a teaching of the psychology and philosophy of Yoga
•   9:00 am – Youth Asana Class
•   10:00 am – Organic Brunch **Bring a container (from home) to save lunch-snack for later
•   12:00 pm – Mantras & Spiritual Sound Vibration Class with Snatam Kaur and Sopurkh Singh
•   1:00 pm – 2pm – Relax and family time*
•   2:00 pm – Sanskrit class (read and write mantras)
•   3:00 pm – Nature walk / Hiking / Mind-Body Class
•   4:00 pm – Youth Asana Class with Yoga Nidra
•   6:00 pm – Organic Dinner
•   7:30 pm – Satsang (We join the Ashram Satsang)
•   9:30 pm – Lights out
*One day we will go on a longer trip to a beautiful and natural place with waterfalls.

Marta Gil (Gauri Devi)

Marta Gil (Gauri Devi) C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, is an experienced Sivananda Yoga teacher, Certified Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT), and a Yoga Therapist. Trained by Tara Rachel Jones (Omkari), Founder of Flower Yoga, she’s been leading and co-leading children, youth, and family programs in Sivananda ashrams in The Bahamas and Woodbourne, NY since 2016. Being a mother of two, and working with youth and children in her daily life, Gauri Devi can connect with her young students with playfulness, creativity, and ease. She teaches language and history in a Polish Community School, and Yoga & Mindfulness in various New York and Connecticut schools and community centers. https://www.mushikawellness.com

Satyadev and Satyabhama

Satyadev (from Germany) is an Advanced Sivananda Yoga Teacher and since 2005 has been one of the main Hatha Yoga teachers in the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Courses in the Bahamas, Colombia, and Argentina. And together with Satyabhama (from Colombia) are called to share the valuable teachings that have given them a lot of internal wealth in their lives. Satyadev and Satyabhama are established in Mexico, where they run their Yoga project, Satyarupa, with a firm devotion to the practice, study, and teaching of the full range of authentic yogic practices received from the lineage of Swami Sivananda.

Snatam Kaur and Sopurkh Singh:

Through inspirational concerts, workshops, immersion courses, and retreats, the much-beloved devotional singer and recording artist Snatam Kaur shares the power of Sikh sacred music with the world. Sopurkh Singh teaches Yoga and meditation, with a focus on helping people experience peace of mind. Together Snatam and Sopurkh founded an online school specializing in the teaching of Kirtan (sacred music) and Kundalini yoga, called Kirtan and Kundalini, which serves people from all over the world.
