This personal and professional yoga retreat for ASL Interpreters is designed to teach you how to live yoga on and off the mat, while giving you tools to confidently interpret yoga classes and workshops. This special retreat is offered only once-a-year and often fills as it is limited to 30 participants.
This year’s theme is “Transformation through Trauma.”
For five days, sign language interpreter Andrea Shock, NIC and yoga instructor Lila Lolling, ERYT500 will guide you through yoga, meditation, interpreting yoga practicums, and vicarious trauma workshops. This long weekend is dedicated to personal investigation and spiritual transformation. We begin our day in community meditation and end the day in the same manner. It is a time of self-reflection, professional development, and community connections.

Please note that the retreat facility is about 2 hours outside NYC. If arriving by plane, it is best to fly into LGA. You will the need to rent a car or take a bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal to catch a bus to Woodbourne, NY.
Retreat Cost
$325 Tuition + Accommodations. Tuition includes manuals, certificates and personalized journal. Accommodation includes two meals daily and access to Russian sauna and hiking trails.

Andrea Schock, NIC
Andrea graduated from Columbia College Chicago’s ITP in 2006 with a degree in ASL-English Interpretation. She later obtained her RID certification in 2009. She has been interpreting full time in a variety of settings throughout the New England area for the past twelve years. In addition to her interpreting experience she has been an avid yoga practitioner for the past fourteen years. Her love and passion for Yoga and the Deaf community intertwined when she attended her first Yoga Retreat for Sign Language Interpreters in 2014. It is after this first retreat that she had a calling to provide accessible Yoga to the Deaf community.
Lila Lolling, ERYT500
Lila has been teaching classical yoga for nearly two decades and she graduated from an ITP in 1996. She has been interpreting and teaching traditional yoga teachings within the Deaf community since 2004. As a board member on an ASL yoga nonprofit, Lila has a front-row seat as Deaf yoga teachers develop yoga signs, techniques, and teachings in ASL. www.lilalolling.com
