Yogis Beyond Borders (YBB) and Yoga Peace Ambassadors (YPA) inspire and empower you to become an “activist of the heart” – exploring and developing ways to put “your passion for creating a better world” – INTO ACTION. Both YBB and YPA share the same objective: to be of service to humanity.

YBB helps yoga teachers to take the healing power of yoga out into the world – to local communities, underserved areas around the globe, and into post conflict regions. YPA helps both yoga teachers and yoga practitioners to create humanitarian initiatives focused on meeting the challenges of the world today — from eradicating hunger and poverty to empowering women, from providing a sustainable environment to ensuring quality education and health for all, etc.

We are very pleased to offer a new combined YBB/YPA program this year, where participants can benefit from both YBB and YPA. This provides the opportunity of working on humanitarian projects, adding a humanitarian focus to one’s work or practice, and/or taking yoga into the world – creating or joining existing programs. As a result of the combined programs, participants will take part in the regular YBB/YPA coursework, plus be able to attend special lectures and workshops focusing on their specific area (s) of interest. Yoga teachers, from all yoga traditions, and yoga practitioners are eligible to attend YBB/YPA and become certified.

The YBB/YPA Program Covers the Following Topics:
1) Finding and exploring your passion in life — your “Life’s Calling”;
2) Exploring how to tie your passion to practical ways that make a difference in the world;
3) Developing concrete leadership skills that help make your passion a reality;
4) Exploring self, to release obstacles that may stand in the way of following your calling;
5) Creating a YBB project (taking yoga into the world) and/or a YPA project (humanitarian program / initiative) — that matches your passion;
(Note: For those participants who already have a project “in the making”, or program that is already in existence, we provide guidance for developing your next steps.)
6) Increasing your knowledge of challenges that the United Nations is working on (see UN.org Sustainable Development Goals), and exploring ways you can join millions who are working to accomplish these goals (connecting your passion with helping on local to international levels);
7) Exploring UN International Days and Decades – seeing how to create projects or events around these international days that are celebrated around the world and/or created to bring world attention to profound areas of national to international concern;
8) Finding possible YBB/YPA programs to join.

Examples of additional YBB topics covered in special lectures and workshops (Topics change depending on interests and needs of participants):
1) Understanding benefits of yoga in recovering from trauma and heightened stress situations;
2) Helping others deal with emotional stressors and conflicts, caused by living through traumas and other difficult life situations;
3) Learning basics in working in disasters, as first responders (following Red Cross guidelines);
4) Building an enhanced yoga practice with humanitarian projects;
5) Exploring special yoga mantras and other yoga practices, that connect with specific humanitarian issues and international days, etc.
